Advocacy Training
In preparation for Maryland Developmental Disability Day on 2/22/18 in Annapolis
we will be hosting
FREE Advocacy Training on 2/7
from 10am - 12pm at our Maryland Line Fire Depratment
Due to an overwhelming response, we have had to relocate this Wednesday’s Advocacy Training to a larger space right across the street:
Wednesday, February 7th
10am-12pm
Maryland Line Fire Department
21631 York Rd
Maryland Line, MD 21105
We also see that the weather forecast is calling for an icy mix Wednesday morning.
If Baltimore County Public Schools are closed, we will postpone the training to:
Friday, February 9th
10am-12pm
also at the Maryland Line Fire Department
This is a Maryland-focused Advocacy Training that will cover topics relevant to Developmental Disability Day, such as:
-Penn-Mar’s
plan for attending DD Day, and identifying Penn-Mar self-advocates
and families
who would like to participate
-The itinerary for Developmental Disabilities Day (2/22) in Annapolis
-How
Penn-Mar families can identify their legislators & clear advocacy messaging
to share with them
-The importance of a 3.5% wage increase for Direct Support Professionals
We will be hosting a Pennsylvania Advocacy Training later this spring
This
training will NOT cover school-related advocacy needs such as navigating an IEP
or securing a non-public placement.For
advocacy assistance in these fields, please contact Disability Rights Maryland:
